Euro-Pro Shark NV22L Navigator Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner Review
Only had the Navigator for 2 weeks, so I can't speak as to durability, but this is a very impressive machine. The biggest problem I have had with vacuums is clogging. You know those oversized pieces of paper, wood shards (if you have a dog that chews sticks, etc..) that seem to create a blockage that backs up all other debris. This machine handles it well. The access points to remove any such blockage are easy to get to. I can attest that I have allowed the debris bin to almost overflow with no loss of suction. It does extremely well on carpet and bare floors. While I also considered the Dyson models, the selling point for me was more than just the 1/2 the price aspect. I hated the way the dyson wand was deployed. It seemed like a pain the the butt. Nice and sleek, but not very functional. I dont mind the hose being exposed. It makes the deployment for use so much easier. Very strong suction, and functional tools. The pet hair attachment is almost too powerful to control. I figured if the Navigator lasts nearly as long as a Dyson would, I would be a fool to pay more for a machine that does the same thing. Now if it fails after a year I may have another opinion. Time will tell.

We have run through many vacuums in our house with 4 kids, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. It doesn't matter how much we spend, the end result is usually the same - the vacuum clogs and jams within the first few uses. And ever after getting it unclogged, it's never the same. I just cannot justify spending the money on a Dyson. So in comes the Shark Navigator. Took it out of the box and had it put together in under 5 minutes. First impressions: very lightweight, extra long cord, small "head" (for lack of a better term, the part that does the vacuuming). We vacuumed first with our old vacuum (a top of the line Kenmore) then we put the Shark to work. After vacuuming our living room and hallway - we filled up the cup! It was amazing how much hair came up. Love how easy it is to maneuver, the small head is perfect for vacuuming around furniture. I am a little disappointed with the size of the cup. I have to empty it after every room. But, it has not clogged once. And it has great suction power. Makes kind of a funny noise - scares the dog. But that's a small price to pay for a vacuum that actually works!!
